The spring plenary meeting of the Western European Nuclear Authorities Association (WENRA) was held in Stockholm between 5 and 6 May, 2026, with Vice-President Mr László Juhász representing the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA).
On 23–24 April 2026, the Steering Committee of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD NEA) held its 151st meeting in Paris, with the participation of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA). OECD NEA Director General William D. Magwood delivered an opening address at the event highlighting the most significant developments of the recent period, noting the success of the NEA Global Forum Nuclear Education National Workshop, held in Poland on 17–18 March 2026, organized jointly by the NEA, Poland's Ministry of Energy, and the Warsaw University of Technology, and the inaugural Executive Leadership Workshop, held in Paris on 10–12 March 2026 which brought together senior decision-makers engaged in the development of the nuclear energy industry in Africa. Participants of the Steering Committee meeting further reviewed a report on scientific projects conducted under the guidance of the OECD NEA and held consultations on the preparation of the NEA's Strategic Plan for the 2029–2034 period.
The tenth Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety, established within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was held in Vienna from April 13–24, 2026, where the Hungarian National Report was presented and discussed on April 17. Hungary was represented at the Review Meeting by a delegation led by Ms. Andrea Beatrix Kádár, President of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA).
A delegation from the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA), led by President Andrea Beatrix Kádár, visited the United States of America at the invitation of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to attend its annual conference, held between 10 and 12 March, 2026. The event aimed to enable the exchange of information and professional dialogue between the US authority, licensees, industrial stakeholders and international partners on nuclear regulatory, safety and security topics, as well as application of new technologies.
Between 24-26 February 2026, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) invited those twenty-four countries that provide voluntary support programmes to strengthen the IAEA safeguards system to attend a meeting. The aim of these programmes is to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons (non-proliferation) and to prevent the use of nuclear materials for non-peaceful purposes. In addition to reviewing daily activities in these areas, participants also analysed new challenges facing the non-proliferation regime. Beyond reflecting on several decades of experience and evaluating past achievements, an important part of the event was the review of current tasks and future challenges. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Hungarian Support Programme, the IAEA presented an award to the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) as the coordinator of the national support programme.
