TPR II. Second Stakeholder Meeting (Online) on 27th of March

The European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group, ENSREG, chose ‘fire-protection’ at nuclear installations as the area to be reviewed for the second topical peer review (TPR) under the amended EU Nuclear Safety Directive. This second stakeholder event will present the overall TPR II process, activities and main findings of the peer review as described in the TPR II peer review reports, followed by an opportunity for discussion.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (U.S. NRC) 2025 Conference was hosted in Rockville, Washington between 11 and 13 March, focusing on such topics as the latest trends in the nuclear sector, new regulatory challenges as well as the opportunities offered by innovative technical and engineering solutions. The delegation of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) led by President Andrea Beatrix Kádár participated in the event and held bilateral meeting with the U.S. NRC Chairman David A. Wright.

Ms. Andrea Beatrix Kádár, President of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority alongside Mr. Csaba Lantos, Minister of Energy of Hungary and Mr. Hua Liu, Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation at International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have signed the Country Programme Framework (CPF) of Hungary covering the period 2024-2029. The document forms the basis of cooperation between the IAEA and Hungary identifying areas of priority sets out objectives for the period.
Technical workshop at the HAEA on ageing management and lifetime extension of nuclear power plants

On 11-12 February 2025, the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) hosted a technical workshop with participation of the HAEA's management and representatives of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. (Paks NPP), the Russian partner authority Rostechnadzor and the Russian state-owned utility JSC Rosenergoatom. The main topic of the event was ageing management and the review of certain regulatory and operator tasks related to further lifetime extension of the Paks NPP, as well as the analysis and summary of known international experiences and further enhancement of the expert dialogue.
30th Hungarian-Austrian bilateral meeting in Budapest

The 30th annual Hungarian-Austrian bilateral meeting took place at the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) in Budapest from 12-13 December 2024. The Hungarian delegation was led by Andrea Beatrix Kádár, President of the HAEA. In her opening speech the president praised the achievements of the 30 years of cooperation and expressed her hope for the continuation of the collaboration.
