The IAEA EPREV "follow-up" mission starts in Hungary

The EPREV "follow-up" mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency will take place between July 3-8, 2022. An international delegation of experts will review the utilization of the recommendations and suggestions made during the previous mission in 2016 regarding the domestic emergency preparedness system.

According to the original plans, the review would have taken place in October 2020, but due to the pandemic situation, the mission had to be postponed several times. During the preparation, with the coordination of the HAEA, the organizations involved in the mission reviewed the national self-assessment prepared in 2016 and compiled the so-called Advanced Reference Material, to provide information on the implementation of the related legislation and regulatory documents, as well as the measures taken on previously made recommendations and suggestions to help the preparation of international experts by presenting information.

The eight-member delegation (IAEA coordinators, Dutch, Finnish, Portuguese, Canadian, French and German experts) was received by Chief of Cabinet of the HAEA and chairman of the High Level Working Group Mr Béla András Balczó and Director of Oversight of the HAEA Ms Eszter Rétfalvi on behalf of the HAEA at the opening meeting on Monday. During the one-week-period a number of consultations and discussions will take place between the organizations involved in the mission and the IAEA experts, who will personally visit some of the organizations and licensees.
