WENRA Spring Plenary Meeting

The spring plenary meeting of the Western European Nuclear Authorities Association (WENRA) was held in Stockholm between 5 and 6 May, 2026, with Vice-President Mr László Juhász representing the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA).

A key topic of the meeting was the preparation of topic proposals for the third European Union Topical Peer Review, as well as a discussion of practices regarding the safety of nuclear-powered commercial vessels and the International Atomic Energy Agency’s initiative to establish a regulatory framework in this area.

Participants also reviewed the outcomes of the 10th Review Meeting of the Convention on Nuclear Safety, were updated on the current status of nuclear facilities in Ukraine, and reported on changes to their regulatory activities related to nuclear safety.

The chairpersons of four expert working groups (the Reactor Harmonization Working Group, the Waste and Decommissioning Working Group, the Research Reactors Working Group, and the Recruitment and Skills Management Working Group) of WENRA reported on their activities over the past period.
