The autumn plenary meeting of the Western European Nuclear Authorities Association (WENRA) was held in Bath, UK, between 6 and 7 November, 2025, with the participation of Ms Andrea Beatrix Kádár, President and Mr László Juhász Vice-President of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA).
The main topics of the meeting included the development of regulatory assessment methods for safety objectives related to the construction of new nuclear power plants and conceptual designs for new reactor technologies.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the situation of Ukrainian nuclear facilities and to overview of the regulatory activities of Member States. In addition, participants exchanged views on areas of potential cooperation with other European organizations in the field of regulatory and technical support.
The chairpersons of the three expert working groups (the Reactor Harmonization Working Group, the Waste and Decommissioning Working Group, and the Research Reactors Working Group) of WENRA reported on their activities over the past period.
